The knowledge of good and bad is almost as old as man himself. This knowledge, however if useless to us. All we need is 'acceptance' that this is either good or bad therefore in order to understand good and bad, our conscience has a major role to play rather than our brain. You may know stealing is bad yet you still steal and feel no remorse. If you have a negative conscience(your environment influences your conscience), you wouldn't feel remorse if you've done some bad things. Mentality is the influence of your environment towards your conscience. If you're in an environment where people say 'man must survive and his hustles must pay either legally or illegally', you'll feel that you must be successful in life and you wouldn't mind crossing limits. This would risk not just your life, but the life of others as well.
In the past, strict laws don't allow people to judge themselves. Once you do something, it's the law that'll judge you and give you verdict so your conscience and mentality has less roles to play since you only need to know the laws. Nowadays however, our conscience has major roles to play. These are examples of what we can do to help live our lives to please both men and God:
1. The people around you* define who you are. Choose them wisely
2. Always reading books about past experiences would sharpen your mind to reason faster in situations
3. Don't just know what's good and what's bad. Know the reason why they're so and also know the result if you engage in any action.
4. Always be confident* about steps you take which you feel are right.
5. No matter how stubborn your are, always listen to advises, meditate* on them and think about them.
